Don't Miss This COVID-19 Breathing Technique

(GivenUs.com) – The coronavirus has most of us hunkering down in isolation, trying to avoid getting sick. The truth is, there’s always a chance you’ll become exposed to COVID-19 when you do have to venture to the store to pick up essentials.

Don’t worry, this video highlights a breathing technique you can do today and moving forward to help ward off the pneumonia sometimes triggered by the virus. Dr. Munshi explains how to do it here:

To keep your airways working their best to ward off respiratory distress, you need to get a good amount of air into the base of your lungs. The technique to do this is simple:

  • Take five deep breaths in, holding your breath for 5 seconds each time before exhaling.
  • On the sixth breath, let out a big, forceful cough while covering your mouth.
  • Repeat steps one and two twice.
  • Lie on your stomach, your body draped over a pillow for ten minutes. Take in slightly deeper breaths than before.

Lying on your back can block your small airways, so flipping over helps you move oxygen into your lungs much easier. This breathing technique helps to boost your breathing capabilities and force your lungs to be stronger should you have to battle the virus.

COVID-19 is affecting us now, and no one, no matter their age or sex, is immune to it. Be prepared and stay informed. Sharing this technique with others could save lives.
